Loss of innocence

Turning the pages of the old family album the person becomes nostalgic and remembers the happy old days. While I was at home during the semester break I was searching some photos and came across some old family albums. I turned around and found some of my childhood pictures. The pictures of a small boy with a broad smile emerged in front of me. When I compare my childhood self with the present state I find a remarkable difference. In the mirror I can see a post graduate engineering student with spectacles, black eyes due to excessive use of computers and frequent late nights. If I post a before and after photos like the gyms providing the weight loss programs, it will be a disappointing advertisement. In my childhood I used to draw caricatures, sketches and used to paint. My parents also regularly encouraged me by enrolling myself to an art school and arranging a private tutor which ever was convenient. When ever any guests used to visit our house I was promptly asked to bring on my sk...

So close yet so far…. The moment of illusive glory….

The day before Diwali in the year 2007 witnessed an India-Pakistan cricket match on PCA ground, Mohali, Punjab . The stadium was packed to its capacity. It was an added treat for the crowd and they were enjoying each moment of the match. But far away from the crowds of Mohali, I was walking back from the NIT, Calicut canteen to my hostel room in Chattamangalam, Calicut , Kerala after having a good lunch. The distance between the canteen and our hostel room was nearly 2.5 Km and because of lack of transport facility daily we used to walk that distance to have our food. I think we made quite a record of walking in the 6 months we stayed there. It was a hot and humid afternoon and while I was walking back to my hostel room, I saw a small black and white TV on the verandah of an eatery, very famous among NIT students. It was broadcasting live action and some people were eagerly watching. The security guard of ICICI bank ATM which was next to the eatery was sitting on a chair and was enj...

R.I.P my favorite decade (2000-2009)

R.I.P (rest in peace) an unlikely beginning for a New Year post, isn’t it? But it is worth it. Some people say it is the end of the bloodiest decade and other may argue that it is a new beginning. But to me it is both an end and a beginning. Because it is a common sense that without an end there can’t be a beginning and without a proper beginning there can’t be an end. So guys this is a life cycle, if you are a computer geek, let me simplify it as saying that it is like a loop; for loop, while loop and so many other kind of loops that you may know. And for some mad small time idiotic researcher like me we call it recursion, iterations or epochs (Those who are familiar with the term must have got my meaning, sorry for those who can’t get the meaning of the terms, please refer a dictionary) A decade has passed and a lot of things have changed. From the Y2K problem in the beginning to the 9/11 terror strike, attack on Indian parliament, Indian hotels, Indian railway stations, Indian te...
